3D Printing to Support COVID-19 Response

COVID-19 Response

Formlabs is dedicated to helping the medical community address the COVID-19 epidemic and associated supply chain shortages with 3D printing technology. Formlabs’ 3D printers and autoclavable resins, developed prototypes of Nasopharyngeal Swab for testing and received a variety of hospital approvals.

These swabs are invented by doctors and 3D printed with Formlabs' SLA 3D printers. The nasal swabs are medical devices and as such need to be produced in FDA-registered facilities or on-site at hospitals. Formlabs has FDA-registered facilities where we will be printing them, and the hospitals we are working with - including Northwell Health and the University of South Florida - will be printed on-site for their own needs.

These 3D Printed nasopharyngeal swabs will be provided to patients at Northwell Health and USF Health, and the design will be shared with other institutions across the country. These nasopharyngeal swabs have also received certification of FDA approval.
