Formlabs Engineering Rigid Resin

Rigid Resin is filled with glass to offer very high stiffness and a polished finish. This material is highly resistant to deformation over time and is great for printing thin walls and features.

Rigid Resin has the highest modulus of all Formlabs materials. It has great impact strength, heat resistance, and stability, but is more brittle than Tough and Durable.

Good for: turbines and fan blades; jigs, fixtures, and tooling; manifolds; electrical casings and automotive housings.

RECOMMENDED FOR:

  • Thin walls and features
  • Turbines and fan blades
  • Jigs, fixtures, and tools
  • Manifolds
  • Electrical casings and automotive housings

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR:

  • Parts that must bend
  • Low-friction surfaces
  • Drop or impact testing

Rigid Resin is comparable to other glass-filled thermoplastics. When compared to parts printed with other Formlabs materials, parts printed with Rigid Resin resist mechanical stress over a longer period of time. Stiffness is a measure of a material’s resistance to elastic deformation under stress. Due to the high degree of stiffness, Rigid Resin parts are more brittle than parts printed with Tough 2000 Resin or Durable Resin.

Requires post-curing. Available layer heights: 100 and 50 microns. Print only with Resin Tank LT.

Requires Resin Tank V2 for Form 3 and Resin Tank LT for Form 2. Rigid Resin decreases the lifetime of resin tanks. Read more about Resin Tank LT lifetime and Form 3 Resin Tank lifetime.
