The Intamsys PEEK (polyetheretherketone) high performance filament is an engineering-grade high-temp thermoplastic with excellent mechanical properties as well as high chemical and temperature resistance. PEEK is considered one of the highest performance polymers and its semi-crystalline structure allows it to be used as a substitute for metal alloys in many cases, showing comparable strength and durability.
Being a high temperature material the Intamsys PEEK requires certain printing conditions including nozzle temperature of 380–410 °C, a 120–160 °C heated print bed, and a fully enclosed heated build chamber. The cooling fans should be turned off while printing with PEEK to ensure uniform crystallization. For Intamsys FUNMAT high-temp 3D printers the manufacturer offers customized material profiles with optimal print settings.
Thanks to its exceptional characteristics, the Intamsys PEEK filament is a highly versatile material suitable for plenty of applications. It is especially useful in aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas industries. In healthcare PEEK is gradually becoming more and more popular due to its biocompatibility and chemical inertness.
