The Intamsys ULTEM 1010 is a high performance polyetherimide (PEI) thermoplastic. It has one of the highest tensile strength values among FDM filaments and excellent thermal stability. This makes ULTEM 1010 extremely useful in automotive and aerospace industries.
ULTEM 1010 features outstanding heat resistance due to its high heat deflection temperature. The material is resistant to open fire and does not emit toxic fumes while melting. Together with its perfect chemical and dielectric properties it allows for the use of ULTEM 1010 in a great number of industrial applications.
The Intamsys ULTEM 1010 is certified to NSF 51 food safety standards and can be used to produce food-contact components. Thanks to its biocompatibility, the material is highly demanded in healthcare industry for manufacturing of custom medical devices.
Like other high-temp thermoplastics, the Intamsys ULTEM 1010 requires special printing conditions. The 3D printer should be capable of supporting the extruder temperature of 340–360 °C and be equipped with a heated print bed and a fully enclosed print chamber.
